Vocabulary Words - 10/25/10
1. Grid - a pattern of horizontal and vertical lines forming squares of uniform size on a map or chart.
2. Helium - a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas (Helium becomes a liquid near absolute zero. Liquid helium is used to cool Jefferson Lab's accelerator components.)
3. HTML - an acronym for HyperText Markup Language; the programming language or code used for the creation of internet web pages.
4. Kelvin - a temperature scale that begins at absolute zero, where there is no molecular movement (Water freezes at 273 K and boils at 373 K.)
5. Laboratory - a place equipped for scientific research, experiments or testing.

10/28 - On LL - Draw a picture and write a description of what happens from the time a sky diver jumps out of a plane until the time he or she lands on the ground. You must use the following words in your descriptions: free fall; terminal velocity; air resistance; gravity; and acceleration due to gravity. Indicate when during the trip the forces on the sky diver are balanced and when they are unbalanced.

1. Technician - a person who is an expert in doing certain technical jobs
2. Temperature - a measure of heat energy in an object, body or environment (Temperature can be measured using Fahrenheit, Celsius or Kelvin scales.)
3. Theory - a general principle that explains or predicts facts or events
4. Velocity - an object's speed and direction of motion
5. Voltage - electrical force or pressure (measured in volts)

Weekly Reminders - 10/4/10
This week students must be in full uniform. No gym or computer classes. Classes will be made up the following week.
It is important that parents make appointments to meet with all four teachers. Progress reports will be sent home in 2 weeks.
All homework must be hand in when due. Students are required to take books home to study.
Check blog daily for test schedule and updated events.
Tests will be sent home this week and must be signed by a parent.
