Weekly Reminders - 9/12/11

To Parents/Students:
*  Students must be prepared for all classes with the required supplies;
*  School forms and emergency cards were due on Friday (9/9/11), if you don't have the forms or emergency cards, you must see the office.  Many thanks to the parents who sent in the forms on time.
*  Gym for 6th grade is on Thursdays.
* All homework must be handed in when due.  (neatly with proper heading, following directions given in class or on the blog)  LATE homework will not be accepted.
* All work must be completed in blue or black ink pens unless otherwise stated.
Parents must make appointments with the office to meet with me.  I will not meet with parents without an appointment. 
*  It is very important that your child/ren attend school regularly and on a timely basis.  Children can be affected by inconsistency and tardiness.


9/16 - Weekly Vocabulary Quiz

Weekly Vocabulary Words - 9/12/11

1.  Constellation - a pattern or group of stars in which people see a figure, animal or object.
2.  Hurricane - a tropical cyclone with winds of 119 km/h or higher.
3.  Evaporation - to convert or change into a vapor.
4.  Energy - the ability to do work or cause change.
5. Earthquakes - occur when built up pressure from moving plates is released. The Richter scale is used to compare strengths of earthquakes.

SCHOOL YEAR 2011-2012


Welcome Back-School year 2011-2012

Dear Parents/Students in grades 5th; 6th; 7th & 8th grades:

Welcome back to OLQM, school year of 2011-2012. Hoped you all had a wonderful and restful summer. Please read the following information for rules and regulations as well as the required supply lists.

Reminder: School begins at 8:00AM and ends at 3:00PM. After-School Program begins at 3:00PM.

Here are a list of rules that must be maintained throughout the school year:

* It is important that your child is prepared with all school supplies;
* School begins at 8:00am, if your child is late, he/she must get a late pass;
* Parents are NOT ALLOWED to be in the classroom or floor after 8:00am.
* Parents will only be seen by APPOINTMENTS-7:45am - made through the office.
* Please AVOID picking up your child before 3:00pm dismissal, your child will be missing
valuable class time. ALL MISSED WORK IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF YOUR CHILD!
* Absent notes are required by the State whenever your child is absent from school.
* Proper uniforms must be worn at all required time. This includes: girls wearing vests, skirt to
the knees, proper leggings and shoes, hair neatly combed. Boys: proper hair cut (see parent
handbook), school shoes-NO SNEAKERS.
* Cell phones MUST BE OFF during school hours. If your child is seen with a cell phone during
school hours, it will be taken away and sent to the office.
* Parents and students is responsible for checking the school blog: olqmnyc.blogspot; for
classwork, homework, and other valuable information.
* Homework should be checked by parents. It is suggested that parents sign their child's
homework.
* Test papers are sent home to be review by parents. Test papers must be signed and return to
teacher the NEXT day.

Please note that it is imperative that these rules are followed in order to have a productive and successful school year for 2011-2012.
