Predicting Chromosome Numbers
A horse and a donkey can mate to produce a mule. The mule is almost always sterile. Horses have a diploid chromosome number of 66. Donkeys have a diploid number of 60.
Solve the problem:
1. How many chromosomes would the mule receive from each parent?
2. What is the diploid number of the mule?
3. What would happen when meiosis occurs in the mule's reproduction organs?
5. Why might a mule be sterile?
1/18 - On LL - 4-6 paragraphs:
A car is parked on a hill. The driver starts the car, accelerates until the car is driving at constant speed, drives at constant speed, then brakes to put the brake pads in contact with the spinning wheels. Explain how static friction, sliding friction, rolling friction, and air resistance are seen in this example.
