Weekly Vocabualry Words - 11/29/10

1. Incentives – factors that motivate and influence the behavior of households and
businesses; prices, profits, and losses act as incentives for participants to take action in a
market economy.

2. Indentured servitude – a contract between two people where one party agrees to work
without any or minimal compensation to pay back money or an opportunity provided by
the other

3. Indigenous - Originating and living or occurring naturally in an area or environment
e.g., indigenous plants or the indigenous people of a country

4. Income Taxes – taxes paid by households and business firms on the income they
receive.

5. Indian Removal Act (1830) – Native Americans were forced to sign treaties agreeing to
move west of the Mississippi.
