1.  geocentric - having or representing the earth as a center.

2.  heliocentric -is a theory that places the Sun as the center of the universe, and the planets orbiting around it.  

3.  telescope - is an instrument that aids in the observation of remote objects by collecting electromagnetic radiation (such as visible light).  

4.  gravity - is the force that causes two particles to pull towards each other. Learn about gravity and find out how Newton and Einstein explain gravity.

5.  scientific method -is a logical and rational order of steps by which scientists come to conclusions about the world around them.

6.  Galileo Galilei - The forefather of what we know today about motion, mass and astronomy, Galileo also dealt with accusations of heresy.

7.  Isaac Newton -invented calculus and explained optics. His most significant work involved forces and the development of a universal law of gravity.

8.  caravel - is a small, highly maneuverable sailing ship developed in the 15th century by the Portuguese to explore along the West African coast and into the Atlantic.

9.  strait -a narrow passage of water connecting two large bodies of water.


10.  Strait of Magellan - is an oceanic passage generally connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, situated in southern Chile and Argentina.
