AIM: p. G2 & 3 - To explain and define the five themes of geography.

PROCEDURE: Students will learn how location, region, place, movement, and
human/environment interactions make up the five themes of geography.

HOMEWORK: Write the definition for the word wall vocab. in NB.


Tuesday 9th, 2008

AIM: p. G4 & 5 – To learn about globes and how it is used.

PROCEDURE: Students will be asked to draw a globe and label the continents, hemisphere,
latitude, longitude and the four oceans.
Students will understand why geographers divide the earth into four.

HOMEWORK: Questions on LL: 1. Which continents are in the Northern Hemisphere?
2. Which continents are in the Southern Hemisphere?
3. Name the imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Northern Hemisphere
and the Southern Hemisphere?

AIM: p. G6 & 7 - To describe how maps are used to find directions.

PROCEDURE: Students will practice using cardinal direction, compass rose, map keys,
symbols, scales, and locators to find directions on maps (map - p. G6 – G11).

HOMEWORK: Questions on LL: 1. What are intermediate directions and how are they
determined?

AIM: Vocabulary Quiz
What are political maps, historical maps physical map, and distribution maps?

PROCEDURE: Students will discover that maps differ in the kinds of information they give.
What type of information the four maps provide.

HOMEWORK: On LL – Name the different kinds of physical maps.
