Monday 8th, 2008 – Chapter 1

AIM: What is Science?

PROCEDURE: pp. 6-9 - Review science words orally.
Oral reading and discussion.
Dictation of notes.

HOMEWORK: pp. 6 – Lesson 1 – copy and define vocabulary words in NB

Tuesday 9th, 2008

AIM: NRG @ Inwood Hill Park

PROCEDURE: Students will be investigating native and invasive plants.
Wear jeans and an old pair of sneakers. (get ready to work)

HOMEWORK: Write a paragraph in response to your experience.


Wednesday 10th, 2008

AIM: Review word wall.
What are independent and dependent variable?

PROCEDURE: pp. 13 -15 – Oral reading and notes
Explain the differences between independent and dependent
variable.
Demonstrate independent and dependent variable.

HOMEWORK: In your own words, write up an experiment explaining the dependent and
independent variables.
Study lesson 1 vocabulary for quiz on Friday 12th, 2008


Thursday 11th, 2008 (Mass @ 9:00am)

AIM: Review word wall.
How to use a scientific method in problem solving?

PROCEDURE: pp. 8-18 – Students will begin an outline and fill in the Scientific Methods in
order.

HOMEWORK: Write an experiment using the scientific methods.


Friday 12th, 2008

AIM: Vocabulary Quiz – Lesson 1
p.12 - To reinforce the structure of a hypothesis.

PROCEDURE: Project/Activity: Students will write the “if” part on a slip of paper and the “then” part on another slip of paper. The slips will be collected and mixed. Students will read the hypothesis aloud.

HOMEWORK: Review Lesson 2 vocabulary – p. 22.
