8TH SCIENCE - WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2008

Monday 15th, 2008

AIM: Lesson 2 – p. 22: How remotely operated vehicles help humans to explore.
How scientists use science skills in different ways?

PROCEDURE: Students will recall ways that scientists have explored outer space without
going there.
Students will compare and contrast ways in which scientists who design technology and scientists who explore use of science skills.

HOMEWORK: Research for whom JASON (p.23) was named and write a brief report about its
namesake. DUE (9/18/08).
Review notes for exam on 9/19/08


Tuesday 16th, 2008

AIM: Chapter 1: The Nature of Science Review.

PROCEDURE: Review science notes and vocabulary words for chap. 1
Dictate test notes

HOMEWORK: Students will study chapter 1 notes for exam on 9/19/08

Thursday 18th, 2008

AIM: World Water Monitoring Day

PROCEDURE: OLQM students will test water samples from the Harlem River and Hudson
River.

HOMEWORK: Report (1 paragraph) of their findings on the water samples.
Study for exam.


Friday 19th, 2008

AIM: CHAPTER 1 - TEST

PROCEDURE: Students will be tested on information given for chapter 1.

HOMEWORK: Chapter 2. p. 34 – vocabulary words in NB
